Ministry of "Sound"

Claimed to be the best club in town, Ministry of Sound, hit the streets in slightly more than a wk ago. It was meant to be fun with 5 halls playing different genre of music. As curious Singaporean, i wanted to see how it looked like. Went with ken and it was a TOTAL disappointment.

In terms of Hardware, MOS has indeed done a good job. The main arena was huge. Double the size of Dbl O? Four platforms in all, with a fantastic sound system. However, the music they played was not my cup of tea. Ok, at least it is better than Hall/Studio 54 (Retro music).

As a die hard mambo aka retro fan, i was shocked to learn the kind of music they play in studio 54. Cant believe my ears. They are really retro but songs that we never heard before. Very strange kind of music. The setting looks funny to be too. I dun really like the deco in the retro hall. Sucks!

What abt the crowds? I thought it was a new club in town, so many will flock to see. At 9pm, the queue went all the way to the taxi stand. Looks great and promising. Then as the nite went by, the crowd changed. Ken said, this place attract 3 kind of pple, "ang moh" or expatriates, gay and lesbian. I AGREE. Many gay and lesbian couples were there. Not a few but A LOT.

"Oh, hi, this is my bf" (from a guy whom many girls will dream of)
"sorry my dear is drunk" (from a woman who dressed entirely like a man)
"yeah, i kinda like this place"(a blonde hair european)

Well, were the music meant for them? I do encounter straight couples, maybe 60% or less? Disappointment. No commercial music was played at all. Every single club is playing Madonna latest hit. According to the crew, MOS is trying to be different from the other club. That also mean they play alternatives. Good try for being different. I seriously doubt how long it will survive.

Anyway, i took a limousine taxi home for comfort. Then again, the driver was too talkative. I was talking to Ken when he kept interupting. Aiyoh.. We ended up remain silent till the end of the journey. At least, there is still something good abt the driver. ha....

Driver: Which school are u in? or working already?
Me: working!
Driver: Wow u guys look young! I thought u were schooling or something. Finish NS already?
Me: yes... hee... (very "song" in heart)

It's time to sleep. Need to work in the morning too. My preference for work is there. Will get another off day on tuesday. Will be getting myself a new shirt. New year present. ha.....
