What Happened?

Very amazed. Very surprised! I had difficulties logging in to this account due to some technical error with this dying computer. Alright. Finally got in! Wanted to give an update of wat went on over last few days.

Remembering Mr S Rajaratnam
It was a sombre mood on that day when state funeral was held. MM Lee, cried for a second time on National TV when he delivered his speech. I remembered watching him sobbed on tv when Singapore separated with our friendly neighbour. That was more than 40 years ago. Who would be able to see MM in tears again? I was very touched. That showed how close MM and Mr Raja were. They were colleague and also friend for more than 50 years. Seriously, other than your spouses, who would stand by you in time of difficulties?

State funeral was very grand. I believe only Mr Raja's funeral can hold in the Esplanade. Many friends, compatriots, family members, cabinet ministers turned up. Even students were caught on TV. But sad to say, i saw a few of them smiling and giggling on TV. Is that a mark of RESPECT? The man lying in the coffin is Singapore's founding father. I can understand if they are little children. But some were quite old. Again, if you ask them abt their dear, i bet they wont even giggle.

Sad! That shows how bad young Singaporeans were. Anyway, bye bye Mr Raja and may you rest in peace!

Long Lost Friend
Was on my home last friday when i heard a familiar voice on Radio. Yep, it was my friend. I got a shocked when she returned to her radio career. I have lost touch with her since i left SR four years ago for my studies. I dun even have her contact number. So, decided to msg her thru radio station. She called me BACK! wow! I am glad she is doing well. She was surprised to see my msg too. We should meet up some days for dinner and have a good chat.

Pre-Bday Celebration
Had a simple celebration with jun on sat despite her having a little headache. I accompanied her to a bingo game held at Downtown East. She was trying her luck to win attractive prizes. In the end, no luck! bleah. Downtown East has undergone many changes. More attractive, more stores, more eateries. The place is still renovating. 10 years ago, the place was such a bore! ha...

Headed to Hongkie Cafe at Taka. The food was ok only. But i like my baked rice. The "wan dan hor fun" which jun ordered wasnt really nice. I missed the one that i had in Hong Kong. I still remembered it was a mainlander who served me tat time. whahah... He spoke cantonese in a very funny way.

The present from jun was fantastic. Actually, i was very touched when i saw the gift. Ken reminded me that she is a very good girl, treat her nicely. Of course i know that. Her support all these while has kept me going. Life is short, finding someone who could understand you so well is not easy. I am glad i met one. (ok, dun puke pple)Thanks dear!

Friends United

Reading strangers' blogs can be inspiring. Here, i mean blogs from ordinary pple not famous bloggers like Mr Brown, Miyagi, Xiaxue or Rockson. I always have that feeling that their blogs are meant for some reason, could be for fame or pure attention seekers. If they are reading my blog, they can correct me if i am wrong.

I came across this blogger who made some interesting comment.

I think I just missed the past.. I can imagine I am in the future missing the present now.. I can imagine me in the future meeting my uni frenz again.. in a dinner.. maybe at my house warming… putting my arm over my buddy.. saying, “seeing your face again is so good” with gratitude and appreciation and also tear in my eye..

I got to agree with what this person has said. When i met up Meiling a few weeks ago, i had the same feeling that he had. We gave each other a hug, cos it has been a very long long time since we met. It was a big surprise. Not only her, seeing Zhongsheng was another unbelieveable stint. ha.... The feeling was good.

To me, friends are equally impt. They are part of our life too. I have been betrayed yet i still put faith in them. I always remember the good old days. Days that we share our memories, dreams and careers. I wish to keep things simple but it just somehow turn otherwise. The bad days that we suffered, the good days that we celebrated. They are still in my memories.

Though it is impossible, I will still like to say this.. “I will like time to stop here, so all of us can have a chance to totally understand and appreciate each other infinitely”

Yup. If tat could happen, i would love it too. At least, i wont grow old so fast. Still 25? remember? haha... It is true tat we should have more time to understand and to appreciate the presence of others. As time pass, we changed and move on. We become more family oriented. Social circle narrowed to you, wife/husband n kids. There is nothing wrong with that.

But i personally believe we should maintain a few good friends. MM Lee and Mr Rajaratnam were very close friends even though Mr Raja can no longer remember MM Lee. The pain when Mr Raja can no longer recognise MM. Look at their half a century kind of friendship.

Like my father, he has a very close friend. At this very age, he keeps in touch with him and even went on a cruise holiday. That is the kind of thing that i would like to achieve even when i am in my 70s or 80s. Looking back on our younger days would make us laugh till our heads off. ha...

Cherish wat we have right now. I will always remember pple who have helped me along the way!

Singapore's son - Mr Rajaratnam

Singapore lost one of its founding father this afternoon. Former deputy prime minister Mr Rajaratnam died of heart failure at the age of 90. To older Singaporeans, his death came as a shocking news. Many remembered him as an optimistic and strong minded man.

To the younger generation like you and me, we din really know who this man was. Till i saw the news, his life biography, i realised Singapore has indeed lost another valuable son. His departure was a great loss. He was one of the pioneer members who started PAP, he was the one who believed 1 country with multiracial society would work. He is the man - Mr Rajaratnam.

Mr Rajaratnam glorious past should inspired many young Singaporeans. Together with Minister Mentor Lee, Toh Chin Chye and Goh Keng Swee, they established the PAP govt and fought with the colonial govt for independence. I think older singaporeans should have deep rooted impression of him.

To us, well, i believe when we were young, we always recite our Singapore pledge. Most or perhaps all schools still do it today. It was until this very day that i found out he was the one who crafted the pledge. I should be ashamed of myself for not even knowing him.

As a mark of respect, all govt building will fly half mast later till state funeral. Even radio has stopped its usual transmission and replaced with very sombre music. Entertainment news or programs were refrained from airing on TV.

When the song, "We are Singapore" came along, i realise it took great pain and effort to build this tiny nation. Without our forefathers, there is no Singapore. I dedicate this entry to Mr Rajaratnam. Thank you for making Singapore into a global city! Thank you Sir!

Forever Young

Took some time to blog before i proceed to dreamland. It's my first off day for the week. Went tuition earlier. Boy, it was pretty tiring cos i had another tanning session in the afternoon. I guess when i leave for Bali, the tan will look even better. whahaha.... No election on MARCH.... Yeah! Holiday Pls!

Long working days last week. Started work on Thursday till Monday. My wkend was spent working. Ha... Cant believe it happened again. It had been sometime since i worked on saturday n sunday. One thing good abt working on wkend is that the bosses are not ard. ha... more relaz.

However, it is tiring as usual. Fortunately, i am probably more seasoned now. Looking back, it was then a disaster. 13 months into the job, seen some changes, yet old habits remained. well.. well...

Birthday is coming very soon. OMG! Cant believe i am inching another step closer to 30. Argh... My age shall remain at 25 from now on. whahaha... I can fully understand how Alan Tam felt when he went past 25. Very soon, u find yourself in the 30s region. Sound so scary. whahaha....

3 more days to wkend. Looking fwd. Jun is having a little celebration for a guy who will always be 25 from now. bleah.. How?

A song from Dbl O
Forever young, i want to be... Forever young....

Election Budget?

Was very busy at work this afternoon after PM delivers his budget. Rushed ard like mad, stepped on my colleague twice. My prof came and did an interview. Chat wif him a little and he was surprised to see me working here. He claimed that young Singaporeans are not concern abt budget and stuff. ha...

Well, i replied cos they are too involved in hall activities. Moreover, they are more interested to see EPL or entertainment kind of stories. Budget bores them to death. They would take a nap then to ask them watch Budget. whahaha.... But when come to gek sek, everyone becomes champion. haiz... If you ask them abt dear, honey, baby, i think they can do better than me. *faint

Sometime, i dun blame the govt for accusing youngsters on not being concern with politics. I mean we live in a peaceful society. Govt did a very good job, we dun have to worry anything, the govt will do everything for us. At such, we become very dependent on the govt.

As for the latest budget, i personally feel the budget has been very pro-citizen. Here i mean, more for the pple. They are reaching out to the lowest income gp. That is good. Despite living in a cosmopolitan society, we still have a gp of low wage workers. They need help. As for corporate, they are not in the lime light this year. That comes to is tat really a Election Budget?

It's wkend and it is only my second day at work. Argh... another 3 more days. Shall proceed to my usual hangout after work. I need to de-stress. Music pls...

100 Untold Tales

Received an unexpected news this afternoon. Has Evil overtook the Innocent? I am not exactly sure what happen. However, i believe the decision was not a last min type. I got to agree with a friend, storm and thunder always struck. It is so common that anyone here can come up with an autobiography named "100 Untold Frightful Tales". Scary!

I read somewhere, "Tough time wont last but a tough man will". I remembered Qiang commented it somewhere in my blog before. When i read that statement again, i realised its significance. How true! It is easier said than done. Some tried while others failed. I am glad my perserverence paid off. Growing emotionally stronger everyday.

On a lighter note, Mr Sun was good to me. Headed Hougang for a 2hr tan hahaha.... Pool was pretty peaceful initially. By 2.30pm, the place nearly turned into a marketplace. 100 over kids turned up for swimming lessons! OMG! It was not even a competition or something. They were shouting, cheering and running ard.

I gave up and left the pool quickly. Too noisy! Being a busy body, i counted the number of classes. There were 8 classes at one time, 20 students per class. Do your little maths and u can imagine how packed the pool was.

In this area, there are so many schools but only 1 swimming complex. Sengkang's version is not even up yet. But school is already spourting everywhere in this region. I seriously wonder if our MP has asked to bring fwd the construction of the new pool. If not, Hougang Swimming Complex can be reserved entirely for schools to conduct lessons. aiyoh... *faint!

Love is in the Air

It's another year to celebrate Valentine day with your love ones. Well, for me, its the fourth time. Time really flies. Although din do anything spectacular this year, the company, the togetherness, somehow bonded us even closer. I am very fortunate to have her with me all these years. Thanks dearest Jun!

Was at Raffles Place before meeting jun up. The atmosphere was pretty cool. There was an event hosted by SPH. There were balloons, mats, food etc. I think it must be those under the moon picnic party. Looks fun cos not everyone can have their picnic at Raffles Place, esp under the scrutiny of the gigantic buildings.

On the way to Orchard, many "entrepreneuers" attempt to sell flowers to any guy on the street. I din pay much attention cos i believe price is going to be exorbitant. And i was rite! ha... The entire street along Orchard was full of aspiring florists, who intend to make it big this time. However, i failed them. oh....

There were many loving couples on the street (not sure if they put up). For a moment, i feel so happy and serene. Watching pple holding hands, chatting away was sweet. The atmosphere was full of love and peace! NO HATRED! Well, even if one is single, it's alright, friends are always there! I have enjoyed my day! Wat abt others?

Most EXP Meal

It's the last day of lunar new year and the end of my 3 off days. That was fast. Met Gavin and Ed this evening for dinner. A long awaited one (as usual). ha... It's either i am too busy wif work or vice versa. As a result of the long wait, we had an EXPENSIVE dinner. Yes, 3 of us chalked up an amt nearly to $188!!! Huat Ah....

ha... I couldnt believe my eyes when the bill came. Almost pop out. Ok, we din visit an expensive restaurant such as Tung Lok. It was a seafood restaurant at East Coast. Really powerful. Most EXPENSIVE meal in my life. The last one i had was only $120 for 3 pax, and that was during school times.

Well, i am glad i have started working. So, the impact is not that severe. Afterall, once in a while, i think is fine. Whahaha.... However, Jun said i could ate 30 plates of chicken rice. True also. I can visit Zouk on top of Dbl O few times more. Nothing to say. The meal was alright, with crabs, fish and kang kong. Now digested with an amt worth $60.

--------------
Saturday was an eventful evening. Went Esplanade again after going with jun on friday. Went to see the outdoor concert again. I think the one on friday was better. The singers from H2O6 sang better songs. Oh yes, manage to catch fireworks display with jun again. Ha... Huat ah!

Watch again on sat but the "feeling" was not there. The company u r with does make a different. On sat, was with Ken. Whaha... The cranky bros(me and him) kept shouting lots of new year well-wishes that stressed the pple next to us. Ha... Not only huat ah, we also shouted things like "wan shi ru yi". "cai yun heng tong", "nian nian you yu", "xin chun ji xiang".... too many list. whahaha... All in the name of GOOD LUCK!

Proceeded to Dbl O quickly and met Gavin. As usual, he's always late. Party till the nite. Was pushed down from the platform. thanks to some irritating pple. Overall, it was fun. After the party, we went supper and chat till very late. Slept at almost 6.30am in the morning.

3 days... Off over. The good news is my next off day will be on valentine day. Good. Then off another day on wed. After which, work over the next wkend. Bleah... May the force be with me.

Evil Triumph?

Slept pretty early last nite despite being a Mambo Nite. Whahaha.... Guess have been too tired over work. Many things happened lately. I pity one of my colleagues who have gotten into trouble. Sometimes, u really wonder, a good man always end up "dead". Why not the evil? They live long and escaped free.

Was on the way home from work when a taxi driver told me abt his family problem. I became a passenger cum counsellor. whahaha.... He is 50 over and has a 23 year old unfilial son. Poor thing, the old man is heartbroken by wat his son has done. He told me his son accumulated more than S$5000 handphone bills.?!

I couldnt believe it. He said his son SMS soared past 1500 every month. Can you believe that? I suspect he is addicted to phone. When he couldnt afford to pay for the bills, he asked his father for help. His bills choked up to S$500 per month. His father helped him once, on the following month, the same problem came up again.

His father has decided not to help him. They have received letters from lawyers. He wanted to borrow more money from his dad. His dad could not take it and ask him to die. There was once the father even kneel in front of him. He even dare to reprimand his father. His father said " I call you Ah Gong! I am not your father."

Shocked! Disbelief! The son is so old enough to think. I really dunno what is in his mind. Recently, there was this navy regular who got killed in an accident. A filial son. What happen to him? Lost his life and left his parents sobbing. My mum said, those that should be dead will have more years to come. Those who shouldnt have report to heaven, die instantaneously. Very ironic!

I dunno wat in the world has come to. Looking at the 2 incidents, it is true that evil will triumph over good? Or retribution takes time to take effect?

Long Awaited Gathering

Just got home from a tiring nite.Whoo... Went to a few places after jun visited my home this afternoon. It was great to have her in my house again. The luncheon was good. I got to agree. Really like a family. I am so fortunate.

Headed to her house to pay her mum a visit. Well, its new year and i think i need to at least sent my personal greetings to her. Her mummy is nice. Gave me lots of delicious cookies every year. Make me feel so paiseh...ha...

Left her house ard 5pm to go Meiling's house. OMG! 10 over years since i last went to her house. It's a MJRians gathering. Meiling was shocked when she saw me. Been more than 3 years since we last met? She is still the same, the same old monitoress during sec days.

Jinli was there. Zhongsheng, Huiyu, Xiulian and some of our schoolmates were there too. We talked abt our old school days. Ha... Those were the days. Suddenly feel so old, cos we left MJR more than 10 years ago. That's long enough. Miss my MJR days. I should pay a visit to my teachers some days.

After which, met ken at Dbl O, our usual hangout. Met Eric agian this time. He treated me to 2 Volka shots that made my stomach very WARM! I was pretty high and party all the way. Regulars were there too. It seems like a weekly affair to meet them up. Very nice pple too. I appreciate their presence. ha...

My off day gone! Got to work later. Haiz... That was fast. Anyway, my next off day is on tuesday. However, i need to attend a course again. Argh! No choice but to go back office. Bleah...

Lost and Found

I am happy to see my old friend resume his normal self. It has been a very very long time since the three of us (my two other best friend and i)got together. Probably a year? Of course, i dun consider those incidents where his ex-gf came along. He has regain his freedom. I see the good old him and that makes me happy.

On the other hand, i was betrayed by another close friend of mine. I always tot he is someone whom i can put my trust on. Yes, i am wrong again. I almost broke down when i heard the harshing remarks. It is just so unbelieveableI The words came off from someone who always help u when needed. My heart sank to the bottom.

I think i have put too much faith in my friends. I should have learnt my mistakes long ago. Yet, i committed once again. I told myelf to draw a clear line between us. I dun wish to get hurt again! It is so depressing on the fourth day of LNY.

To brighten up my day, i went Zouk with Ken. I am glad i went. For a moment, i feel so de-stress and happiness. Seeing the regulars and their funny actions were entertaining. Met Kevin. FF personal trainer Alfred and my hall mate there. Singapore is just too small. ha... cant do evil stuff. Pple will know.

A lesson learnt: Be extremely careful whom u want to share your problem with. In any case, they will turn their back against u and wala....
