Malaysia's Birthday!

ha.. yes our friendly neighbour in the north celebrate her 47 birthday today. Sought of funny cos we USED to celebrate her birthday together. Now as a separate nation, we send birthday wishes as a gesture of friendliness. I was not born in the era when we were one of the states in Malaysia. I began to wonder how it was like during that time when we celebrate malaysia's national day. I guess we should at least sing "majullah malaysia"?!

I watched their version of NDP on tv3 just now. Quite cool, cos they showcase their armed forces and even their fire fighters. I saw PM Abdullah wearing some uniform and had a very stern expression when the soldiers marched pass. Then they have the mass display too. What is it that is so different from ours? Their NDP is held during day time. I think we should try that if we can. Quite a fresh idea, the most we can forgo the fireworks. I think without the firework is perfectly fine since in the month of August, there are so many ongoing fireworks. This is in line wif PM Lee to think out of the box. I agree. Try something different. No harm rite?

Welcome to Beijing 2008 Olympics

Waving goodbye to Athens and it is now time to see what Beijing got to show by the time 2008. The official baton has been officially handed over. Everyone is waiting to see what they have. Seriously, i think that is a very proud moment for the Chinese. Afterall, being a close economy for so many years, they have finally opened up and showcase to the rest of the world. As Asian, I am also proud. After Japan and Seoul, i dun think any Asian nation had hosted such big scale event before. I have very high expectation for China like the way they have for their athletes. It must be one of the BEST lor. Dun disgrace yourself and the entire Asian community.

Athens have once again proven themselves by staging a very outstanding show this time. I particularly like their slogan "Welcome Home". Yes, it has been some 100 years after the games returned to the place where it originated. Kind of touching. But sometime, i also think that Olympics is a ang moh game. Why? Because the ang mohs are the ones who played the games since ancient times. What abt Asia? still sleeping lar....

Working on Sunday?!

Working on a day when everyone is resting sound a bit strange for many executives except for those who do shift work. Yes, currently in office as i happen to be on shift today. Initially, i felt a bit "sian" but later found tat it was pretty cool to work on Sunday. The entire office is so quiet wif only 3-4 pple hanging ard. Ha... the more impt thing is the "key personnel" are not in.. cool. Can relax relax... Now bumming ard for a while b4 meeting up wif ken.

Will be going down to Queenway in a short while. Patronised by many ah beng here, the place sells very in and trendy clothes. Moreover, they also sell sports items that i loved very much. Hopefully i can get some good bargain if i am going to get something.. wish me luck!!!

Buffet at Liang Seah St

Liang Seah St serves many good food along the entire stretch of road. Ranging from very cheap coffee shop food to authentic italian food. Seem quite rojak but that's Singapore. I was there wif my NTU friends for a post convocation dinner. So long after convo? yar, cos everyone is busy wif their work and finally spare some free time to meet up. The turn out was good wif almost 10 pax.

We had this mala steamboat at one of the restaurant along the street. Quite cheap compare to the all time favourite, Chung Kin Hotpot at Tanglin Mall! Ordered tons of food, i particularly like that Shanghai wanton very much. Think that is their specialty. Ha... it was opened by Li Jiawei and Jing Jun Hong's countrymen. The boss was a Chinese national and their waiter and waitress are Chinese. Earning good Singapore dollars yeh!

Ate a lot of pork but there were not much chicken. We munched hungrily while chatting away and updating each other. It was quite a wonderful gathering cos it had been more than a month since we last met. Hope to have more such outings but try some other food???

ZChen, the Malaysian Idol?

Yes, i saw him today when he came over to my office. He looks honest is very sincere when he delivers his music. He has this very R&B voice that pple try to mimic. But too bad, not many can do it except for R&B king David Tao or Jay maybe. He was smiling to pple all the time and this is the way an artise should react publicly. His curly hairs do not really fit his looks. I prefer his old hair style... maybe he is malaysian lar... boleh....

Anyway, he made a remark on radio by saying he would sign as many albums as possible if fans ask him to during his autograph session at HMV. He can sign up to 2000 copies as long as any fans bring his album along. I happen to drop by wif ken and what greeted us was quite pathetic. Maybe less than a hundred fans or slightly more were there... aiyoh... I suddenly feel very pity for him cos he is trying so hard to sell his album but not many pple seems interested to buy original copy. sad... no wonder the music industry is failing.... Think he must have felt very disappointed yet putting on a smile all the time. Jia you! u can do it ZChen!

I'm loving it!!!

sounds familiar? yes that is Macdonald's tagline!!! went for my breakfast at mac together wif my little nephew. He disturbed my sleep this morning by whining for his mum. I woke up, console him a bit and he was happy and satisfied. I guess most children loves mac. When mac was mentioned, his face just brightened up. Really lar, mac is doing an excellence job to market their product to young kids and teenagers.

When arrived at mac, i see adults together wif a 2-3 yr old kid beside them. If not, it would be some primary school kids. Wow! Good biz for mac lor. They have done their marketing campaign very well. The brandname is already embedded in the brains of most kids. Well, i cannot deny the fact that i love mac when i was a kid too. But start to get sick of it when i grew older. maybe is the price or just the taste of the food????

Win 32 Problem

This problem has been haunting on my computer for a very long time. That means that i cannot download any stuff as it will be disconnected halfway. I gave up and stop all my downloading. Unless i reformat my drives, if not the problem will always be there.

Slept a lot this afternoon. Was so tired and i sleep from 3pm to 7pm. Think partly due to the amount of sleep i had last nite. Why? Some irritating problems at home again. I hope the matter can be resolved quickly, otherwise i will hear lots of nagging from my mum.

Lim Hng Kiang announces details of the procreation plans. Wow, maid levy down from 345 to 250. That is quite a lot as it will reduce the burden for many families who wished to have kids. Rebates and tax relief are also given. They introduced a new relief call grantparent care relief or something. Looks cool as it encourage young singaporeans to stay wif accommodating parents. Maybe i can consider that when i get married one day....

Bua Long Long Day

Finally got an off during a weekday. That also means "hey u got to work on the weekend!". It was nice to take a rest from all the hassle from work. I prefer to work on a weekend cos the office is quiet and those "impt" pple are not ard. At least i can have some peace in the workplace. The negative thing is tat i could not go out wif my friends and maybe miss out some clubbing opportunities in the weekend... dun think i am young anymore...hahaha....

Went for a swim at one of the neighbourhood pools. The pool was quiet except for a few irritating planes that kept flying across the sky. I began to ponder if the place will shut off permanently cos there were only a handful of patrons on the pool. quite bad for SSC but wonderful for me. ha... Weather was good for tanning. Had a great tan. Now more refresh and i guess i am ready for my work ahead!!!

Goodies from PM Lee

On his maiden speech last nite, PM Lee impressed everyone wif lots of initiatives. 5 day week for civil servant like me, more baby incentives to encourage procreation, more freedom to speak etc. Wow, he had really tailored his speech in such a way that it will cover a whole spectrum of issues. I would say PM Lee was a bit nervous cos if you have watched his rally, he fumbled a few times. Guess it is not an easy job to address the nation for more than 3 hours. I enjoyed his speech and he was hilarious, relax and allow everyone to look at his softer side.

He had SM Goh's connecting to the people kind of attitute but he had also inherited his father MM Lee's stern and firm genes. He is in between both of them. hee... He can articulate well, citing good examples such as using neighbourhood school when he speaks abt the education system. I was from a neighbourhood school. Cos pple always like to tok abt top schools like RI, Hwa Chong, RGS, RV etc, the reason being they deliver excellent students. Come on lar, where do the majority of the students come from? most came from neighbourhood school. PM Lee is trying to connect pple at the lowest level, taking care of everyone whenever possible. He does not only focus the top notch but also the others who made up the society.

On the whole, it was a fabulous speech. I am sure he will do better in the upcoming rallies as well. Anyway, his rally kept me busy the whole morning trying to rush for many many stories. I am now waiting to see wat Lim Hng Kiang got to say on wed when he announced more details....ha... i am also a young singaporean, you know.....

A Nation Failure

Singapore has always been top in many areas. In the academic area, in IT area, in research, in biomedical science but last in SPORTS!!! Our singaporean athletes failed to deliver their mission. Who to blame? the athletes or the society or the govt? It was indeed a sad moment for Singapore this afternoon when Susilo's gf Jiawei lost out Singapore's 44 year medal hope. I was glad i din see the match, if not i would have vomited blood.

Seriously, i knew Jiawei would not win. When she lost out the match to that North Korean girl, i knew tat was the end. Pple simply loves miracle and think she will win. I made sarcastics remarks that irritated my colleagues. I said she is following her senior Jing jun hong footstep. EXACTLY the SAME! 4 years ago in Sydney, Jing jun hong lost. Now, her junior has done us proud by following her again. pple might be throwing eggs at me now. :P but this is how i feel.

Do you think she can do it again in 2008 olympics? I DUN THINK so. For a simply reason, who will be the host for the next olympics? PRC, People's Republic of China BEIJING!!! They have excellent home ground advantage and tons of players tat they can choose. I think jiawei will have to wait for another 8 years when she is 31 (at the 2012 Olympics) b4 winning another possible medal. Unless the sports school is ready to produce another one(which i doubt it will) or Singapore invites another Chinese or Korean to pledge their allegience to us, i think the whole Olympic dream will end! Look at our Singaporean born athletes, Jocelin Yeo, Gary Tan ,Mark Chay, Stanley Tan. They had put us to shame. I know it is harsh to say that. But their performance are even worse that the foreign talents. They claimed to have done their best, so that is their best which means this is the furtherest that we can go. So, is Olympics really for us?

It is good to have dream, i agree, even our leaders encouraged. But we need to strike a balance too. Reality do not permit. If we are lousy, we admit but we should not have the say die attitute. We can strive but on a more reasonable step. Strive in regional games like ASIAN games or SEA games. It will be a better ground for them to work on. Dun set too high targets in the olympics such as winning a medal after some 40 years? Tremendous pressure are on the players and it is clearly demonstrated by jiawei's carelessness when she lost out to that North Korean girl. I was damn pissed at that competition. But too bad, mistake committed, life still moves on.

Better go sleep. Still have lots of things to do tomolo. Still not the end of the world yet! ha....

Auntie Bus Conductor

Before i start bitching on this auntie that i met on the bus, i need to thank lilian for giving me her support by reading my blog. haha... Excited rite? cos i mentioned your name on the internet. (as if she won some big sweep or something) This is the place where i will air all my whatever good or bad or terrible or cannot make it views. ha... Anyway, back to that auntie, i was on my way to meet lijun when this lady in white suddenly came over and ask for my easylink card. I took a glimpse at her and she smiled at me. After inspecting my card, she sat in front of me. Then, this old man came over and sit beside her.

Conversation
Old man: why are you checking on our card when everyone needs to scan their card before they are allowed on the bus?
Aunite conductor: Oh, my company's policy and i have to abide by it.(very singaporean answer) This is my job.
Old man: I dun think you need to cos i dun see any point. Waste of time.
Auntie conductor(after a short pause): uncle, i am not against you or anything. We conduct check not to make you feel paiseh or watever, but we want to ensure that our bus driver drives safely and carefully on the road. They have a schedule to follow, we need to make sure that they follow according to the schedule as planned. We also need to ensure that they drive safely on the road by not beating red lights or speed. It is for the safety of everyone.

The uncle keeps quiet and seems to understand the problem. Before the old man alights, the auntie conductor reiterated that the bus company is not against any passengers. I find this aunite very reasonable and patient to the passengers. I must really commend on her attitute. It is a saturday and she still have to conduct checks. ha. quite poor thing also. If everyone behaves like her , the world is more friendly and approachable.

However, since she was an auntie, she chat wif me all of a sudden when she saw something on TV mobile. She aired her views on China-Taiwan relation, then Bush administration. I was impressed by her. Dun belittle these pple cos they know lots of things than us. She is so knowledgeable. ha... I din make any comments but behave like a copycat and agree to watever she said. Cos i feel that wat she said is reasonable and everyone deserve a chance to speak off their mind. So i listened and echoed her comments. ha... like a parrot too. Nice auntie and maybe if you are on bus 93, u might get to catch her ard!!!!

Chicken are Protesting!

Quite a tiring day today cos work was pretty hectic after the outbreak of bird flu in msia. Poor poultry sellers and hawkers. I think their earnings will suffer severe impact over the next few weeks. Most Singaporeans are kiasu's brother kiasi, so they will be more cautious when it comes to eating chicken. Moreover, frozen chicken do not taste as good as fresh chicken. But do we have a choice? Unless we switch to other stuff like pork, fish or seafood. Hopefully the malaysian authorities can contained the disease quickly and end the saga in 2-3 wks time. Otherwise, no chicken from Msia!!!

Went out wif ed and gang today. Realised that he will be leaving for thailand in another week. Think he will be posted there permanently unless he quits his job. I think it is pretty cool to go overseas to work. It should be fun and very independent. Imagine living in another city while working there? seems very interesting. Another friend of mine who is now in Taiwan, is also working there. But he says somehow u will miss home. True, your friends and family members are here afterall. If given me a chance to go, i will consider. hee...

Primary School friend

Received an email from a long lost primary school friend. Better than a separation of 1 generation after the Korean war (think i watched too much brotherhood if u have seen the movie) , we were fortunate to link up thru the ever friendly friendster. It is always good and great to hear from someone whom u have not contacted for more than a decade. Opps, am i really tat old???? Studying from his photo, he had also changed a lot, rite Mr Melvyn if you happen to read this. I always remember him as one of the short guy in my class and you will see him queueing in front of the class. He would usually sit in the front row too. Wonder if he is taller now? It should lar, i used to be quite short too but now not too bad lar... aei, i still consider myself short, cos an average Singaporean male should stand ard 1.75m.

Time really flies, things have changed, environment is different but the friendship is still there. Seriously, other than Melvyn, my other long time friend is Alvin. Need to express my gratitude to friendster again. We met up many many times to recollect our old days. He had also changed a lot lar, but for the better rite? :P If all our classmates from POI CHING is to have a super reunion, think no one can recognise anyone. Wonder if this mission can be done....

The Miracle Did Not Happen

Susilo failed in his attempt to win a medal for Singapore. Guess he should be very disappointed now but his gf is wif him...ha. I think he should instead lift up his spirit and encourage his gf to go on for tonite match. I doubt Li jiawei can do better in the race too. Her senior jing junhong is out of the game. I was quite neutral abt the lost except tat the media tends to play up the whole thing. That is their job, so is mine. oh yes, Susilo is a Singaporean Indonesian. Hmm, quite funny. Anyway, we dun have a chance to "stand together hear the lion roar".

My favourite Charla lost in this leg of the amazing race. So sad and disappointing. They were supposed to be in the lead but end up finishing last. Thanks to that idiot couple Colin and that Miss USA. Damn irritating couple. I was praying hard that they will fall back but i must admit they are good and competitive. No choice, but to see my favourite team lose. Charla, you have done your best. We have seen it! You will always be the Queen of amazing race 5!!!

Can Susilo make it?

Was thinking this qn when i saw Susilo who is also table tennis queen Li jiawei's stead won the competition today against the German. ha.. If he wins a medal, will it really be a Singaporean one or a one that comes from the place where Megawati is still ruling. He speaks with a strong Suharto's essence, with his tougue rolling. Yes, he has pledged his alliegence to Singapore, and i have no doubt abt that. He had also trained under the Singapore flag but his roots are still in Indonesia. He is after all the first generation migrated from our close neighbour. One would start contemplating if he really wins in the Olympic.

As a Singaporean, i also wish him all the best. i would like to see our flag flying high in the podium where the whole world can see. Singapore won her first medal in 1960, which is like wat the media say VERY LONG time ago. I recognised him as a Singaporean, and thank him for bringing honour to the country if he wins. But there is still abit of yi han.. now new migrants like Helen Chong, Li Jiawei etc might start to protest and say hey i am doing a job for Singapore and u pple are commenting so much. I admit that you are trying hard to gain recognition but we are also trying our best to accept you. I mean we cannot just get a new migrant, who will win a competition or some impt business deal and then declared them tat they are OUR people. People tongues might wag and hint to them that we have no talents but to bring in other talented pple and placed them under our contingent. Strange rite? maybe it is not strange or i over-reacted. Anyway, all the best Susilo! Dun make the same mistake as Jing Junhong who was already there but got kicked out at the very last moment!!!!

Goddess Evonne Hsu

Got to meet her today when she came over to my office. This is the first time i see her personally and she is really very fair and pretty. Felt a bit excited when i know she is coming. However, as usual, when i want to take pictures or shake hand wif her, her bodyguard aka PR will be blocking. Idiot! We are her fans and her PR actually block us from getting close to her. A photo will not do her harm anyway. Somemore it is in an office and not an outdoor show. Irritating!!! One of my colleagues was not welcoming too. Come on lar, we are in the same company but you resist the idea of allowing me to stand ard and look at her. Maybe it is a sin to look at her. Really annoying pple!!!

Know wat, when i went down to canteen to get a drink, evonne also came down and she saw me. She actually GREETED me!!! ha. i was so happy as she knew i was one of the staff in the company. Yeah! she said hello and smile at me b4 walking off. I acknowledged her by giving her a hand signal. She makes my day except for the few irritating pple who should be condemned!!!

Lost?!

sometimes, i really wonder how could very close friends becomes enemy in a short period of time. Happen to stumble upon a good friend contact thru friendster. Suddenly felt so cold and distance when i look at his photo. Although i am not a very close friend of his, he was a good friend of my buddy. Strange enough, they used to be so close till i was intro to him. I find him quite a good guy, outgoing, fun and many positive traits. Went out wif him on several occasion and find that he was good.

However, something happened and friends turned enemy. Now all the contacts are broken and no longer friends. hmm. strange enough, once gone, gone forever! Think there is no way to mend the hole. When i saw his photo, had this gan chu. Felt like a stranger whom i do not know, but we were once friends. Although the incident is over, we still wish him all the best in watever he does!

Sat Night Fever

As usual, went out on every sat nite. Was on my way to meet lijun when i met this mother and son on the North east line. The mother is probably in her 40s while the son should be sec 2 or 3. Most teenagers at this age is very reluctant to go out wif parents, furthermore, it is the time when most of them are rebellious. I have been thru that era b4 so i could more or less understand how some feel. But this mother-son is really very close. The son was like hugging the mum, while the mum gave her son a peck on the cheek. They were happily discussing their trip, as i suspect they could find a shorter route to reach home other than taking the NE line.

The son was helping the mother to carry their shopping grocery. Then they were behaving so close that i suddenly felt warm in my heart. Cos there are still pple out there who are very filial and nice to their parents at the age of 14-16. Seriously, nowsaday, i am not sure abt the others, but for me, i seldom see this type of relationship between a parent and kid. Most children are only concern abt their friends, bf, gf. The world only revolve ard all their friends except family. I once said, even if your parents passed away, no tears will be shed. But if a friend, bf or gf passed away, u will cry like there is no day, no nite, no tomorrow. This is horrendous! Something is really wrong somewhere.

Anyway, met up wif lijun and had a great time wif her. Seeing her in short hair is rather interesting. y? cos she seldom keeps short hair. Orchard is crowded as usual. Met up wif ed and gang for supper after that. Ed was quite irritated when he was asked to do manual stuff on his first day of work. Ha. but i think in the long run, he will benefit something out of it. Supper at Chomp pang! Pass by there a few times, but this is my first time there! Ate roti john and satay! Yum! Now back at home, going to sleep soon and my sat nite is over!

Office alone

Was left alone in the dept this morning cos my other colleagues went to attend a training. Gosh, you must be wondering y i was not invited. Thanks to my LAO DA! ha. shall not mention too much abt her. Anyway, felt peace and serene when i was alone in the dept. Suddenly it was so quiet. At least i can do my work peacefully!! As usual, the morning was hectic especially with our third PM swearing in yesterday!

With the Athen Olympics opening ceremony starting tonite at 130am Singapore time, i guess it will be another stressful event for me again for the next 16 days. By the way, read papers in the morning and i found out that RDAM Teo will be heading to Athens to attend the ceremony. I think it must be very rush for him to rush to Greece after attending the swearing in ceremony. VIP and impt pple! no choice, i think once you r in politics or holding senior post, life will be a lot different!

Thursday, August 12, 2004

Hello PM Lee! Goodbye PM Goh!

Saw on national TV on the PM swearing in ceremony, and as wat the media said, a historical moment! Think PM Lee places a lot of emphasis on the post independence population. He is concerned abt the younger generation and hope to see more young singaporeans to step forward. He wants the voice of young Singaporeans! I do agree that the challenge that he faces now is a lot different from the one tat Ex PM Lee and Goh faced during 1963 and 1990. As wat PM Lee says, the majority of the population are from the post independence years. In other words, he has to ensure that the new generation is well taken care of as they will be taking over wat Singapore has inherited eventually. I hope PM Lee will do a better job than any other PM cos u r in the hot seat now!!!!

The ceremony at Istana is symbolic but i pity the pple who attended the event. Yes, it would be an honour if i am invited but the weather is really unbearable. Guests put on coat and shirt but the weather is so humid and hot that everyone is sweating profusely. The open air concept is good if we are in a temperate region. However, we are now in a tropical region and the warm weather may be difficult for the guests to endure. Fortunately, the event is only an hour. No matter wat, everyone just have to bear wif it. Maybe pple find worth it like me. Well, if i could only be there...hee.....

Charla the Queen

If you have been catching amazing race, i supposed you should know who Charla is. I like her spirit and would really love to see her win. I guess her courage and the way she push herself to continue in the race touched me a lot. Although she is a midget, she does not give herself up. Instead she wants to prove to many of us that she can do it! I just cannot stand that Miss USA or something. Feel damn sick when i see the couple. She is pretty, i cannot deny that, but come on, she seems to be super arrogant, togther with that Colin guy. SUCKS! However, they are competitive and i think they may win the game eventually. They knew all the techniques to win the game except for their attitude that i cannot stand!

So surprised to receive my friend kin jun's icq while writing today's blog. She is cool. IS one of my best female friends. Actually, we knew each other since kindergarden. Ha... Childhood friends lar. Lost contact wif her for sometime b4 we caught up during JCs time. Then we realise we were from the same kindergarden when she mentioned the place she attended her preschool. Need to go to sleep soon. Tomolo still needs to wake up at 4am for my morning shift. Good luck!

New Cabinet

I was pretty surprised that Prof Jayakumar was promoted to become the deputy prime minister. I tot he would be stepping down and call for the day. He is an experience person in the cabinet and i definitely think he is more qualified than anyone to be Lee's deputy. And now, we have 2 experienced deputy prime ministers. Unlike PM Goh, whom many of us had expected, he had become the senior minister! SM Lee had become MM! MM? Minister Mentor! Wat a name! Singapore's senior political post are now run by well experienced pple and we can let them run comfortably with no worries. The change in cabinet made me very busy today. Had to write lots of stories regarding the new cabinet lineup.

Anyway, went for a swim yesterday FINALLY! Din had good chance to go cos i was either busy or the sky din permit. Had a great tan at the end of the day too. About to leave the office soon and will be making a trip to the gym. Looks like i am really very healthy now! ha. It will help me to destress as i concentrate on my workout and look out for those funny pple working out. very bad hor! But some really gei sei bo sei lar. ha....

Birth of a nation 39 years ago

Singapore celebrates her independence for the 39th time since 1965. wat a long way. This is a special year too as the change in political leader takes place. The third generation leaders had emerged which will be led by DPM Lee who will sworn in to be our country's third prime minister. Read an article on paper today and find that young singaporeans r not very keen on political stuff. For me, i enjoy studying political stories due to the nature of my job and also an interest in this area. Ask me any designation of the minsters and i can tell u their name. Ha.... sounds very hao lian. hee... anyway, maybe most young singaporeans are over concern abt their 5Cs, relationship, job security, where to travel and etc. I feel that it is every singaporean responsiblity to know their political leaders and the things they do. Then we will better understand their plight and the tough decision that they have to make. Cos most of us would only pintpoint but do not really understand what is happening.

PM Goh got emotional as NDP paid a tribute for his contribution over the last 14 years. I could see tears in his eyes and yes he did deserve every singaporeans respect. This year NDP was alright, not much different from previous year except the last time PM Goh is standing as the prime minister. Next year, we will see him walking out from the holding area instead of a car escorting him into the stadium. Oh yes, i heard next year's NDP will be in Padang again. I think Padang is a better place cos that was the place when singapore declared independence in 1965. I think the place is more historical. Moreover, the landscape round that area had changed and i think it would create a different type of atmosphere in 2005 NDP. Happy Birthday Singapore!

Thank You PM Goh!!!

Saw PM Goh national day message on internet just now and felt very grateful for wat he had done for our pple. His last msg as PM was touching. I am happy and proud to have him as our leader. He had brought us thru many stormy weather and overcame many obstacles. Well, some pple may start to argue that i am a pro-govt activitist again. But hey look, he had really done a very good job. Credits should be given. We should not always complain but take a step back and see wat pple had done. PM Goh had served Singapore wif greatest dignity and integrity. He had interest for his pple. I do agree that some policies are hurting but eventually it is for our own good. Thank you PM Goh!!!

Dropped by esplanade today and see thousands of Singaporeans bringing their entire family down to see the all time favourite, fireworks. It is part of the nation birthday celebration. Wow, the crowd was huge, you can see extended families, teenagers, students and pple from all walks of life. They were sitting ard, chatting, eating, having picnic. I could not really stand the huge crowd but to make a quick exit wif ken to suntec. I felt so much better when we arrived at suntec cos the earlier frenzy and chaos was really unbearable. Anyway, i am now back home and will be sleeping in a few minutes. Have to wake up early for work, still have to... i got no choice...hee....

A place worth visiting!!!

Went to esplanade yesterday for a walk wif lijun when i realised there was this new cafe. Yeah, a brand new one, replacing the lousy tea room or something. It is located at the entrance of esplanade. It had this english cum italian setting which really mesmerised me. I was like a little kid trying to sniff out new stuff from the cafe. I got excited and fortunately lijun managed to calm me down a bit. The cafe serve good tea cake and coffee. It was their first day in biz when we happen to drop by. How lucky we are!! The service was excellent, with waitress asking for feedback courteously and gave us an intro to the cafe. Out of 10, i would give them 9. really good! Heard from the waitress that the cafe was owned by a Singaporean who brought in this unique concept. Seriously, i really like the concept which is so different from the usual coffee bean, coffee club, starbucks etc.

Met ed and gang today at Chinatown for dinner. Boy, it had been sometime since i met up wif my ntu friends. Ed found a job at a tyre firm which had operation in thai. Guess this is his dream to leave singapore for thai. ha. Went to Party World at Cha ren, wow, change a lot. The last time when i went to cha ren was few years ago. Now being taken over by party world, it seems tat the biz is expanding. But competition for KTV in Chinatown is stiff. There are plenty of ktv ard such as Kster, Kbox and hits studio. Not forgetting those little pub cum ktv along tanjong pagar too. Think everyone is like fighting for a big piece of cake. This is real biz!!!

Zouk out!

yep. was so tired for the past 2 days after i went to zouk on mambo nite. Guess i am old and could no longer dance as powerful as b4. ha... Met a few NTU friends there and i think the place is really for students. Gosh, the guys and gals are young, mostly students ard the age of 21-24. I happen to fall out of the category. However, it is nice to dance wif a big young crowd.
The mambo nite is still so welcoming by many youngsters ever since they created the theme for the wed nite many many years ago. I sometimes wonder why these group of people just love retro like my friend ken.

Was out for another round of exercise yesterday. I am still able to meet my goals to visit the gym at least twice weekly. Ah Keong said it is good to keep yourself fit and healthy at all times. But i am not so onz like him to participate in some biathlon stuff. ha... I think i am not up to the standard like him. At the gym yesterday, there was this guy who lost his balance and felt of the treadmill. Everyone stop their workout to see wat happen. I was like few metres away and he just landed on the floor wif face down. Fortunately, he recovered after some time. I guess he seldom run on the treadmill and thus it can get giddy easily after the run. Maybe he was not prepared for that.

Feeling very sleepy now as i slept for 3hrs last nite. rush to the office again in the morning for my morning shift again. need to wait for another 2hrs b4 i can really take a good sleep in my long awaited bed.....

Some free time

Finish my work pretty early today. So can sit down and do some blogging b4 leaving the office. As usual, the office is quiet after 6pm cos most of the staff had gone back home. Feeling hungry now and i think i would buy something from Tiong Bahru b4 heading home.

Got a msg from my dear friend ah keong. Hmm. finally get to hear from him after so long. I think he somehow lost my number when he lost his hp quite some time ago. And that is probably the reason why he could not contact me for a very long time. Glad that he is still doing fine and well well, he is going back to school next week. ha...

aiyoh, very hungry now. How how? still not time to leave office yet. My shift ends on 8pm. Will need to stay till 730pm b4 i can leave... still waiting...

New colleagues

Before i went to work, i slept a lot last nite. felt very tired after coming back from niece birthday. Slept pretty early ard 11pm plus. I have not sleep so early for a very long time after i went into NTU. Anyway, weather was cool and i am even motivated to sleep more. When i woke up, still feel tired. No wonder pple like to say the more u sleep the more tired you become. It's true.

My dept came 2 new colleagues today. One was an ex-teacher while the other one found his first job. I was quite shock when the first job guy told me he did lots of part time job after he graduated from school last year. OMG! took almost a year to settle for a job. Is the labour market really tat bad till today? hopefully it is not. But our dept needs pple, he is our saviour, if not only my other colleague and i will have to xiang yi wei ming.

Think my entry pretty long, better cut it short the next time. ha. going to watch a bit tv b4 sleeping...

Misunderstandings

Sometime, it is difficult to avoid misunderstanding or even prevent it. Afterall, we are humans. We make mistakes and overlook certain issues. Misunderstandings can lead to unncessary anxiety, disappointment, anger, fear and etc. Be it between a friend or ur partner. I do agree that reality do make you feel frustrated as there is always the element of uncertainty. No one can predict what is going to happen tomorrow. Last minute change may have ripple effect and cause many problems.

Anyway, i had some misunderstanding yesterday but was eventually resolved. It was a good lesson that cannot be taught in class. To maintain a relationship, there must be consistency and transparency. If not, the game will end within a couple of months or even days. I always believe in this. That is why i dun like to hide anything. Whatever, i know, i will let her or my friends know. Although the incident is over, i am glad to know something, i treasure my love one very much. She is impt to me and i value whatever she had to say. Yeah!

Since the saga is over, life still have to move on. Tomorrow is a working day for me. Fortunately, i managed to convince my senior to grant me an afternoon shift. Ha. i have been waking up at 4 plus every monday morning. It was quite tiring and stress. hee..

Went to my niece 1 year old birthday today. Wow, her first birth cake was so beautiful. i bet her parents must have spent on the cake. Very fortunate girl to born in this era where singapore is so prosperous. ha... There were 11 kids running ard the house which i nearly fainted. My nephew was one of them. I think kids get aquainted with each other very quickly. A buffet was catered for everyone of us. Really lar... nowsaday children are really so good. Parents are more filial to their kids than the other way round. hopefully when they grow up, they will learn to treasure their parents like the way their parents treat them.
