US Presidential Elections 04

Will Bush retain his helm in the White house or taken over by Senator Kerry? This has been a BIG qn for most Americans. For the rest of the world, we are concerned in US military actions and her economic performance. The war in Iraq is long and seems neverending. Everyday, i hear news abt abduction of hostages, air strikes in Fallujah or even bombing in the green zone. When will this war end? As the largest economy in the world, any major movement in Wall St will affect the world economy. Whoever holds the key to White house will have significant impact not only in US but the world too.

My colleague asked who will i support. I gave a naughty answer Nader. After all, he is the independent candidate. I knew he will not win but neither do i want Bush or Kerry to win. Kerry is a well like figure by US citizens in the eastern states such as New York. Well Bush is more popular in the mid west states. To me, i only support Bush's one China policy. (I know Taiwanese will hate me for saying this) That has always been republican policy (Singapore stand too) but the democrats are somehow pro-Taiwan. Although they also support one China policy, they are not as verbal as the republican govt. Look at Powell visits to China. I guess China have been happy abt his remarks for saying Taiwan does not enjoy the benefit of a sovereign nation.

Enough of serious view, i think Bush will win eventually. The latest results showed that he should be able to retain his seat in the Oval Office for another 4 years. We shall give him another 4 yrs to prove himself. The stock mkt seems very pro-Bush. STI went up above the 2000 mark today. I think investors prefer a Bush administration since stability will be there should Bush remains in office. Declare the winner quickly and move on!
