Took some time to update my blog before heading off for dreamland. Been busy lately over work. Made a few blunders here and there. Hope to make more improvement as time goes along. Found out that my other colleague is also suffering from "work demoralisation". ha... think this is part and parcel of life. Maybe i would say working in the media field is so much different from corporate world. More bitching perhaps
Many things happened over the last few days. The govt have "finally" given the green light to proceed with Intergrated Resort. I do agree with PM and other MPs that it will indeed bring in employment and revenue for the country. As Lim Hng Kiang said, the tourism sector in other countries are booming but Singapore is slowing down. Something must be done. On the other hand, we are constraint by many factors. We dun have rich cultural and historical background, our land is so much limited. Thus, it is hard to focus on tourism sector.
However, it is important that the research conducted extensively MUST justify wat is going to happen. I mean r the resort operators really able to attract the number of crowd they wanted? Or how confident is the govt able to pull in tourists from other countries? It seems that IR is the ultimate route to boost our tourism industry. The govt is placing their bets on IR. It better win cos if it lost, not only will there be more social problems but the amount of investment and effort we put in.
A very good example is the failure of Asian Village, Tang Dynasty and Haw Par Villa. Oh yes, not forgetting the consolidation of 2 media giants, cos losses did occur. For now, it is no longer the decision whether to build a casino or not. It should be what MUST be done to give others a thumbs up for our intergrated resort!
