The situation in Myanmar is terrifying. I am sadden by the way the monks are being fired and attacked. After a visit to Myanmar last year, what happen now is so real to me. I mean the streets that the protest took place, the temple, the pple and etc. Things turned negative, peaceful demonstration led by monks became violence. Pple shed and the world followed closely.
I can sense the frustration in the country. Pple asked why would monks want to demonstrate? The reason is simple, they meet ordinary citizens daily for alms. I believe they would have heard abt the frustration in them, with prices of necessity going up exhorbitantly. After all, most of the goods are monopolised by the govt. Who can the pple turn to other than govt?
I was sharing with my mum about our trip last year. We remembered the local tv stations only air propegenda programs. Everything is under tight scrutiny. I guess this is one of the many ways the govt maintained its control on the pple. Myanmar would be a lovely country if it opens up and develop quickly. Given her strategic location and armed with lots of natural resources, she could easily beat other asian countries.
On a lighter note, my next trip is finalised. Yep, i will be visiting Ed next week in BKK. Yeah! More than 18 months since i last went to bkk. This time, i will be arriving at the new airport. Oh not forgetting Ed agreed to bring us to non-touristy areas. Whoo hoo.... It will be a brand new experience for me. I guess its a good time to clear leave since my boss has requested us to take leave asap. Yay! Tum Yam land again!
