Mooncake Overdose

Mooncake Festival is here again this Sunday. My office have been receiving tons and tons of mooncakes. The first mooncakes arrive during the hungry ghost festival. hahah.. We were already munching away all flavours of mooncake. More came today from various clients, hotels and partners. We are really having an overdosage of mooncakes.

Some came with chinese tea as well. Its pretty heaty if you eat those oven baked mooncakes. Also, you feel indigestable if you have too much mooncake. So, chinese tea will do the trick. As you chew on the mooncake, sip with a cup of hot chinese tea. Pretty good. When i passed by some roadshows selling mooncakes, i am like getting sick of it. hahahha....

What we had were a variety of mooncakes. We had shanghainese mooncakes, taiwanese mooncakes, traditional mooncakes, coffee mooncakes, non-baked mooncakes, durain mooncakes etc etc. I had so many pieces that i have forgotten what i ate. whahhaha... Oh, some boxes that came with the mooncakes are nice. Really. I guess retailers are good at packaging. I guess it looks presentable when you offer it to your business associates.

I was having lunching this afternoon when the "chap chai pheng" auntie said, mooncakes these days are expensive. A normal mooncake cost $9 and that means a box cost $36. She tot that was expensive. Just one piece and $9 gone. Well, i tot $9 includes packing cost, labour cost, raw materials and other utilities expenses. hahhaa.. Not forgetting the profits which retailers hope to reaped.

Well, we do agree its only once a year. Though prices have gone up, pple are still rushing to buy it. I mean its a festive occasion, at the end of the day it is to make everyone happy. But seriously, will you buy an expensive mooncake? hahhaha... Alrite, 4 more days to go before the actual day. You still have some time to think about it! lol
