Change has come to America!

I was part of America history! lol. Barack Obama won the election and became the first black american president. Well, if i am in New York or Chicago, honestly, i will really take to the streets to see how election is like in United States. I have always love America, not for its full democracy but more of their openess and willingness to accept change. I once told my friends i am willing to give up my citizenship for a green card! hahahha....

I was following the election since last night. Excellent coverage by international news channel. CNN, BBC, Sky News, Fox News. Oh man, their report were comprehensive and it was pretty exciting. I cant vote cos i am not an American, if not, i will fly back to states to cast. I wont cast overseas cos i would love to enjoy the election spirit.

Unlike our election here, i cant be bothered. hahhaha... I still remember on election nite, i went clubbing. Really lor, waste my time to watch the election. I really see no point. hahhaha... For America, it is really different. Although our culture cant accept their democracy, however, the way when John McCain conceded defeat was really touching. He said "American have spoken. God Bless the new president and God Bless America"

He conceded defeat graciously. Throughout the campaign, though he and Obama were at odds and attacking each other, they knew its election. No hard feelings, neither were there personal attacks. This is wat i call "TRUE SPIRIT of ELECTION". Unlike election in Asia, it is more like a drama. I guess we have more to learn.

As i watched Obama won the election with a group of SMU students, i guess Change has come to America. I am pretty surprised by the turnout in SMU. Young Singaporeans are concern about American politics than local politics. I wonder if our political scene is just too small or way too boring to talk about.

Obama will be sworned into White House on 20 Jan 2009. That is the time when the whole world watches. Time for George Bush to go. Given the recent financial turmoil, I feel its time for a change in United States. Hopefully when Obama takes over, the economic landscape will change and we will benefit in the long run too! God Bless America!
