Obama Era

Chiong Chiong Chiong! Well, tat does not mean clubbing! hahahha.. The usual mad rush tat i got from work, free time and watsoever. hahahha.. This week has been a hectic one, with the major events occuring on the same week. First is the inauguration of American first black president Barack Obama. Next, the "not so ordinary" budget that we can expect from the finance ministry.

The inauguration inWashington was indeed magnificent. Despite the chilling winds, millions of American turned up at Capitol Hill, to witness their country's history. Across the globe, millions of pple tuned in to TV to see live pictures of the inauguration ceremony. For tat moment, i tot it was so proud to be an American.

As mentioned, United States of America is united not because of race, religion or language. They are united by one common belief, the land of freedom. I am so touched by what the president or senior senator had said. And who in the world would dare to make such a comment? Yes, only the most powerful nation in the world.

Americans are united no matter who runs the country. Although they were disappointed by the republicans, that does not mean they hate them or would want to destroy them. I like the way the parties "rotate" during different terms in office. Each party has their own sets of governing and eventually leads to the propserity of the country. I wonder how it would be like if it applies to here at home too. I guess, it will be tough.

Back home, the recent saga involving a perm sect that went on vacation with his family to take up a cooking class create an uproar among Singaporeans. When i first read the article, my immediate reaction was, wow, such a nice father! But on second thoughts, i felt it was unfair to other fellow Singaporeans who are suffering.

In time of crisis, we should stand united and help our fellow man. But sharing abt a trip to Paris doesnt really help at all. In fact, it make the situation worse. Like wat the minister said, it was such a disappointment. The civil servant lack of sensitivity. Hmm... I really wonder did he really think twice before sharing with other Singaporeans. I mean after all this guy should be some scholar and couldnt have made such "insensitive" comments. Well, the incident has passed. Life should move on and lets continue to work hard!
