Heaven answered to my Prayers

I was feeling so down abt the entire incident. BUT something changed when i received 2 calls requesting me to go for an interview. My GOD! I was so excited that i jumped up and down. It had been 39 days since i first sent my resume. There was not even 1 reply. I thought it's the end. That is why i came up with 10 reasons why i should not be treated this way. Yes, an interview may not mean anything, however, i have passed their first stage of screening. This means they do recognise my previous contributions.

During this period, I received lots of consolation from friends and family. I am glad my parents are very supportive of my decision. My dear was consoling me although she claimed she was not a good adviser. No, i treasure whatever thing she said. Ken has been a great friend too. Despite having problems at work, he is willing to offer advise to me. Of course there are some others too. Not forgetting Vicky and Lilian. Surprise to learn that pple actually do read my blog. hee... I hope i will be getting more calls from potential employers very soon!!!!

The Disappointment

I was offered a job. But sad to say, the job din recognise my working experience. They offered me a fresh grad pay and i was totally put off. I got quite disappointed and pissed when i heard of the offer. All my effort with the company went down the drain. I felt like a disowned child. I dun mind working for the company. However, they din appreciate my contribution. Wat to do? Bye bye lor.

I have been thinking a lot since yesterday. I asked myself, have i ever committed any evil sin?
1 I dun smoke
2 I dun drink
3 I dun go for casual sex
4 I dun go into non hetero relationship
5 I am not abusive
6 I am filial (at least i dun abuse my parents)
7 I am faithful
8 I dun steal
8 I dun kill
9 I dun rape
10 I dun betray pple

What did i get in return? I got rubbish. I got condemn. I got disappointment. Felt like crying when i think of these. My dear felt bad when she heard my reasons too. Maybe i am pessimistic. But thanks to her support and my friend ken, i am now able to see an optimistic side. I am sure i derserve something better than this. I know i have to wait. I will. AND i will work hard to look for jobs too. ha...

Centennial Wedding Pt 2

The wedding in Rasa Sentosa was really cool. The atmosphere, the environment, the sea and etc. To many youngster like us, we would love to have this kind of arrangement. The couple's friends must have enjoyed tremendously. If i were their friends, i would too. BUT the poor relatives are having a hard time. One of mine relatives actually complained that she had to travelled in pitch dark to arrive at the venue. (by the way, sentosa is under renovation) To a certain extend, i agree. Poor her, she had to travel thru obstacles for a wedding dinner. Sounds stupid!

The seniors are making complaints too. Table arrangements are in a mess. The couple have their friends seated in the centre while relatives sat at the corners. This is not right because we are relatives. As chinese says, friends are "Wai Ren", they dun have any blood connection with u, how can they sit in the prominent places? I really dun understand how they came up with the sitting arrangement. There are other issues too. If i were to discuss, it will be few pages long. The wedding is over. Wat can we say? I still send my congrats message as it is good to see pple getting married.

Centennial Wedding Pt 1

I am not trying to be sarcastic but i really cannot stand someone who could spent more than $70,000 on a wedding. Yes, it is expensive to host a wedding reception. I am prepared for that even if i get married next time. BUT, the wedding couple is enjoying their wedding at full expense of their parents. Hmm, maybe they did fork out a portion of the expenses, i doubt the amount is substantial.

Hosting a wedding at Rasa Sentosa? To many couples, it may be a dream. Taking into consideration the ambience, the quality, the service, the price is justifiable. On the other side, i always have this question, is the dinner for themselves ie the couple or their family members? The dinner is supposely to inform everyone that hey i am married. In this case, it means more than "face" treatment. The location is so out of the way, given that most of their relatives are from Malaysia, senior citizens. Do you think they will be able to make their way there? Only friends or probably young cousins will find it cool. I pity the older folks as they have difficulties even recognising roads in Singapore.

Seriously, i din wat the couple went thru when they decide the venue of their wedding dinner. They are quite daring to "coup" so much money from their parents. Parents are willing to give anything for the apple of their eye. Seeing them utilising almost all their savings is really despairing. Afterall, it is a happy occasion, i shall not discuss further. Anyway, this is a 2 part series blog. Check out for the update tomolo.

Post on leave syndroms

Felt so tired and demotivated to go for work when it was time. I think my 2 days leave had made me a lazy person. The usual on the ball guy slackens as the motivation to work turns negative. I "dragged" myself to work this afternoon. Thank God! I was on the afternoon shift. Before that, i had to settle the long awaited accounts payable. ha... My debtors must have had a hard time waiting for his credit recepient to settle outstanding payments.

I kept forgetting to pay since last month. I promised myself to pay 2 days ago but forget again. I always recalled it when i reached home. Feel damn stupid rite? Thanks to jun who kept reminding me. She claimed to be very naggy but if she does not do that, i doubt my bill will continue to remain outstanding. I attempted to pay at the SAM machine in SK, but WTF. There is this auntie who hogs on to the machine as if it was like her husband. I dun mean to be rude but she was taking her sweet time pressing, bit by bit. If she does not know how to use, i am more than willing to help. She can always go to Post Office for payments too. Eventually, i gave up cos i could not wait.

When i arrived at Tiong Bahru, i thought ok the situation will not be so bad. In the end, the AXS machine is located inside GV which is at the 4th storey. I got no choice but travel all the way up. When i reach there, wat greeted me was an unwelcoming note. "THE MACHINE IS DOWN". Thanks! I rushed to work and finally paid my bills at Bukit Merah when i finished work. What a working day to begin with!

Travelling with NEL

Most pple may find travelling on train boring especially after work. U would want to reach home quickly to have ur dinner or meet up ur dear or watsoever. I was on my way home during the peak hours just now. NEL is so crowded with executives rushing home. Then there was this 2 groups of ladies who were chatting happily away. i din meant to be kaypoh but they were talking quite loudly.

One was discussing abt BGR. Those typical A loves B, then B dunno loves who type of wacko stories. Another group was talking abt renovation. I guess one of those girls are getting married and intend to buy a unit in Sengkang. Hmm, quite an interesting discussion. ha... kaypoh. Before i alighted, another woman who whined as she talked made my hair stand. Kept complaining she had no money.

The morale of the story is, travelling on train can be interesting. hee... Listening to every heartlander stories can be intriguing. U get to feel and see what pple are thinking and doing. I am not encouraging u to eavesdrop but sometimes, if u feel bored, take a look ard. U might expect an unexpected story to begin. hee....

Memorable Date

Please do not blame me for using such a cheesy title. I know it is one of those titles that primary school students like to use for their essay or composition. ha.. but it really reflects how i felt on this particular date. I was on leave for 2 days. (finally) Managed to arrange a date with my dear for a getaway. Yar rite, get out of the country? My dream but no. We planned to suntan and swim in our most infamous beach Siloso.

Poor singaporeans like us do not have money and time to travel far. I would prefer to enjoy a tan at Thailand or even Bintan. Siloso beach is only for teenagers like my bro. Despite so, i was amazed by the development of Sentosa. I guess the CEO is really doing his job. There were so many changes there. There are new restaurants, more shops, more shelters, improved manmade scenery. i think it is time for Singaporeans to head on to Sentosa. ha... oops, i did applied for a job there. hee....

Back on the date, the sky was naughty. There were clouds all day. So we just hang ard the beach and enjoy the tranquility, marred by passing helicopters and container ships. Before that, we had brunch at Rasa Sentosa. Fantastic place if i am a tourist. Rain started pouring and we made a hasty retreat.

At night, we dated at Singapore's famous landmark, the Esplanade. WOW!!! I really had an enjoyable time there. I guess she knew wat i meant. We chilled out at the renovated roof garden with soothing music beaming from below. Strange enough, there was this outdoor performance that sang a series of "Carpenters" songs. Imagine sitting under the clear sky with Shenton way overlooking at us, the sea rite in your eyes, too good to be true! We had a wonderful time.

Maybe i should travel with her to Venice . I can tell u the place is 10 times romantic and excellent. The songs played in Saint Marco Square are famous. Even English songs idiot like me knew what they were. They dun play with a band but an orchestra ie violin, trumpet, saxophone. The place serve mouth watering goodies and coffees. ha... think i rattle too far. Maybe if there is a chance. We shall see.

SIA darlings!

I was at FF in the evening for my usual workout. While running on the treadmill, i realised there was this charity show by Mediacorp. In one of those segments, i saw SIA cabin crew performing together with some special school kids. It is nice of SIA to participate in the program especially large corporation like theirs need plenty of publicity and societal marketing.

Well, there is something that caught my attention- the cabin crew. The Singapore girls are generally pretty. They are good looking, have great smiles and able to articulate. After all, they represent the airline and also represent our country. SIA is Singapore's flagship. I mean we cannot tarnish her image by recruiting Aunties rite?

On the other hand, their male counterparts are terrible. I dun believe that there are no good looking male singaporeans cabin crew. Those who participated in the show are old man or not fantastic looking guy. The contrast is there when they stood next to the SIA girls. So what is the problem? SIA is unable to find good looking guys for the show or there are no eye candy guy at all? If u have travelled with SIA before, the male cabin crews are really uncle. I am glad SIA branding focuses on their girls, if not, i dare not speculate.

Life @ Cosy Bay

In case u were wondering where cosy bay was? It is situated at the junction of Tanjong Rhu. Quite an exclusive cum exquisite place. Surrounded by beautiful condos and calm waters, it is a good getaway for Singaporeans who wished to escape from their stressful work. There is this suspension bridge that link Indoor stadium to Tanjong Rhu. Medicorp has always chosen that particular bridge to shoot for a few serials. Some actress who had crossed the bridge include Ivy Lee, Huang Biren and Queen of Caldecott Hwee Gek or Zoe.

I understand that the property around that area is extremely expensive. If you happen to own a unit in Tanjong Rhu, I would classify u as a millionaire. A unit there can cost more than a million singapore dollars. It is not any Tom, Dick or Harry who could afford. I was wondering if i would be able to own one. Seriously, even if most Singaporeans work till they die, they can never afford. Except u become a successful businessman.

Lijun said Cosy bay is a romantic place. I kind of agree with her. The place is indeed a place aptly for dating. However, i pity the residents there. Imagine u own a million dollar property and have to bear with all that noise pollution from blasting music, laughter, talking etc. It is quite annoying as u get to see many non-residents coming in and out of the place. The tower at cosy bay was initially meant for a recreation place for the residents there. However, it ended up becoming a commercial place. Come to think of it, the residents are quite ptitful unless they dun really mind. I guess the MP for that area has a difficult job to do.

Amazing Race 6

The new season is finally here. I have been waiting for some time since the last season ended. Seems that in this season, there are more pple like "Colin and Miss Texas". Most of them kept quarreling throughout the entire journey. It is ok to have disagreement. What i dun understand is why Americans are so 大 男 人 主 义. How can? They are supposed to be more open than Asians, more equal in terms of male vs female.

The only couple that captured my attention is the wrestler gang. They are physically strong but when comes to maps, they are directionless. They were in the lead initially but end up finishing 6. They better improve on their weaknesses, if not, by no time they will be eliminated very soon. Their first destination was iceland. My god. Never seen Iceland in my life and thought it was an area full of ice and snow. ha... ignorant. I remembered when i was in UK, hao always told me that UK is cold due to the cold winds blowing from Iceland. After watching this episode, i realise Iceland is so beautiful. If i were to travel to UK again, i should make a stop over at Iceland. Will my dreams ever be realised????

Arnold Gay left Mediaworks

It has been confirmed that Arnold Gay left his former owner SPH Mediaworks. hmm... i am seriously in doubt his relationship with Mediacorp too. Channel I will cease operation very soon. As a senior broadcast journalist cum presenter, he should have the oppt of returning to his home (CNA) I strongly believe that CNA will retain him cos they do not have many experienced male presenters, moreover, Arnold is a popular newscaster, not forgetting he was nominated for the Asian Television Award. Strange enough.

He has gone over to ESPN sports channel presenting sports news. Quite a disappointment. I am not saying that ESPN is lousy, but if u do not have a cable network, would u be able to see him? One may argued that he has international exposure in ESPN, but it applys to CNA too. Other than sportsnatic, who would watch sports news? I mean in CNA or even CNN, pple who wish to watch news should exceed the audience for Sports news. Look, we used to have a sports channel but wind up eventually. Why? The viablity of the channel is at stake. In other words, it is not tat popular. Another reason, those who subscribe to ESPN are soccer fans. Do u think they will catch the sports news?

The only reason that i can find is he might want a change in working environment. Arnold had done lots of current affairs, he might decide to switch to doing sports. He might consider a challenge. He had done stand upper, reporting live, presenting "normal" news etc. Sports might be something different and new. Good try though. It reminds me of another ex CNA presenter who jumped over to Channel I - Michelle Quah. What abt her? Details should be revealed soon.

Nominated MP - Eunice Olsen

To some, it might be an old news. But to people like me, hey, quite new! I heard on news on the other day about Eunice being nominated as MP. Initially, i was wondering if it was really that Eunice, after some confirmation from colleagues, YES, it was her. Some may be bewildered by who is this Eunice? Why am i creating such a big hooha out of it? She is none other than former Miss Singapore Universe aka Host of Wheel of Fortune Singapore aka 孩 有 明 天 cast. A Mediacorp artise turn MP!!!! Quite an achievement for her. I am sure she will represent the people from the media in airing her views towards certain issues when MPs debate in the Parliament.

The rumours of artise are uneducated, low academic qualification is no longer true. Singapore's media field is transforming into a intellectual force. They do not only memorised lines created by script writers but have a say in what they think is appropriate. This is in line with the govt calls for more Singaporeans to come forward. I think by allowing Eunice to debate in Parliament is really something different. I understand that she did lots of charity and community work. That is probably the reason why she was nominated by Lim Swee Say to have a say in policy making. We shall look forward to Bernard Lim's partner making a stance in Parliament Hse in the near future!

Personal Time on PH

Finally had 2 rest days thanks to our muslim community celebration. Other than sleeping, i went to for a swim. Need to train a bit on cardio. ha... Before the rain started pouring, i swam 20 laps. Quite a remarkable achievementfor me. It really stretched my muscles and i learn to control my breathe. I was glad to tan for an hour before the sky turn bitter. Spent the rest of the time at home sleeping and playing with Jordan.

As usual, he will be running and shouting in my house. I find that he is really intelligent. Young kids now are able to memorise a lot of things quickly. Jordan is able to tell me the exact phrase of a commericial line from TV. Can u imagine a 2 yr old kid doing such things? He would sometimes sing some of the serial theme songs eg Wan Mei Nu Ren. He can even remember his home address and telephone number. I nearly fainted when he told me his telephone number. ha. I think it must have been the nontireless effort from Jordan's grandma and auntie. I hope my sis will groom him well. 大 有 作 为!

WTF

I am not trying to be crude or offensive. In case u were wondering wat do i mean by WTF. It means What The F***! I was so pissed by this barbaric, uncivilised, primitive cum LC guy. He tot i was eyeing for his gf or disturbing their good time. I have my own to love and i dun like AH LIANs. I was dancing next to this couple when a pair of sharp eyes stared hardly on me. It was as if i had committed some serious offences or murdered someone. For goodness sake, his gf is a typical Lian whom any guy can go steady or sleep with lor. U think i will eye for her meh? Maybe not lar, probably i was too outstanding when i danced and that irritated them. ha... big hole... (in hokkien)

The girl asked me politely to stand further away as i blocked their views of watching chio bus and handsomes. PLEASE! This is a disco, anyone can stand anywhere, anytime they liked. They must be those amatuers or ignorant kids. I excused myself and stand away, but that pair of sharp eyes still stared at me. I felt so uncomfortable. If any other beng or watsoever is being treated this way, he might have a panda eye by now. As an educated person (i am not trying to be HL), it is always good to remain calm and cool. Ignore their behaviour and enjoy ourselves. Anyway, they are just a bunch of ill breds who go ard sleeping and drop outs from school. I shall forgive them on that. I have been to Europa on many occasions. This is the first time i get to see this type of nonsense. Just making some grumble to release the tension! ha...

Going to bed in a min. It's Hari Raya! A celebration for our Muslim Singaporeans who had successfully completed another round of fasting. Congrats! Long holiday for me too...hee...

Palestinian Leader Arafat's Life

Yep. Today marks the end of Arafat's entire life. Have been monitoring the development of his funeral procession. His body was first flown from Paris to Cairo for the funeral. Then, his body will be flown to Ramallah for burial. I was initally puzzled why would his body be flown to Cairo b4 heading home for burial. My colleague said for security reasons. I began to see the picture. True, i doubt world leaders including Arab leaders will be allowed to enter West bank area. So they have to arrange for a less sensitive area where leaders can congregate to bid their final farewell to Arafat. Besides, Israeli may protest for allowing other leaders to arrive in West Bank. No choice but the body have to be flown ard.

I believe he was well liked by his fellow citizens. He was the one who fight for independence and everyone treats him as a National Hero. It was really quite sad to lose such a well respected leader. Palestine have declared national mourning for at least a month. If i remembered correctly, Arafat has been confered the Nobel Peace Award previously. He was really indeed a great man.

Anyway, on another issue, 综 艺 大 哥 大 host 黄 品 源 was here this afternoon. Looks cool and matured. I like his songs and the role that he played on the variety program. Caught a glimpse of him a while cos i was too busy with monitoring Arafat's funeral. Leaving office soon. Will be back in a few hours later. Y? Morning shift lor

Thai movie Shutters

Caught that movie with ken in the late afternoon. Very scary. I find that Thai's horror movies can be horrifying and gruesome at times. I really got a shock this time during certain scenes. I nearly jumped out of my seat. ha... The story is abt a guy who took photos with strange images appearing all the time. Eventually the guy was sent to a mental hospital. I do not want to describe in details as the show is still on a sneak preview.

I am contented as i got a public holiday off during Deepavali. I seldom have the oppt of having a rest during PH. When i do have, i treasured it greatly. Yeah, i will be having another one on Hari Raya. Yipee. Need not work for 2 days ie Sunday and Monday. Oh yes, Jordan came this afternoon b4 i left for the movie. This little boy is so adorable. He was running ard in my room, slept next to me and point to me that we wore the same singlet. Aiyah, very talkative but fun. Shall see him again over the weekend. I think he might be staying over from Sunday to Monday!!!

PS: 11/11 is the wedding anniversary of Mediacorp's Li Nanxing and Yang Libing. hee... just some infor.

18 Hours Unsleep Combat

It was another personal best i had achieved. I have tried not to sleep for a day. It was not easy cos u will doze off by certain time. I must congratulate the winner of Subaru Challenge for taking up the challenge to fight against the Zz monster. Another group of pple who dun really get lots of sleep are singers, actors or generally artises. They forgo their sleep for money. Quite worth it in the short run. In the long run, i think health will be badly affected.

After my morning shift ended, i headed down to "Si Ma Lu" to offer some prayers. My mum said i should make a trip down to pray for smoothness in my job. It was quite true especially after all that scandal and cheaters that i met. My colleague cum friend, Mr Tan, in case he is reading, "jio" me for dinner. So while waiting for him, i went to FF for a break. I was quite lazy and tired so i din really work out much. I ended up sitting at the reception reading magazines and papers.

Finally, met him for dinner and chat for more than 3 hours. My goodness. I was like a chatterbox and rattle non stop for so long. I din even realise that it was so late. I must also admit that he is also very vocal. ha... that is y we had a long dinner. By the time i reached home, i almost collapse immediately. I stoned at the TV for a while b4 meeting Mr Zhou. Really powerful ah! Those who attempt to try will be at your own risk ah!

Aftermath

Still felt disappointed with what happened. The more i think the more irritated i become. This is an employer market. I totally agree with lilian. They do whatever they "think" are right. Think only hor. It is somehow true that people with talents will be appreciated anyway. It is a matter of time. Well, i will have to stay cool and seek for potential jobs.

By the way, i met up Racheal, Yvette, Jingfang and Gavin yesterday. Hmm. Quite a reunion. Jingfang got the glam job "The Singapore Girl". ha... but she said it was not easy. y? Difficult passengers, washing of toilets, maintainence on the cleanliness of cabin, bullied by seniors. But the pay and allowance is justificable. I was so tempted when she told me abt her allowance. Too bad i dun have the looks and stuff. I dun mind flying for 2 years b4 settling for a PR job or something. At least i get to travel. ha... MY DREAM! Better than my current place who only recognise my contribution as effortless.

The rest were doing fine too. Most in the finance sector except the officer. After all, it is not bad to sign on. Good pay, defending the country, what is wrong with that? I do admit that i was wrong to accuse pple of being silly to sign on. Given the economic situation, the employer dominant market, young singaporean should consider. By the time u reach my age, it is all over. ha....

Insulted and Cheated

I have never feel so insulted or cheated in my life. In singlish, i mean "kanna tua"! I was offered a job but they do not consider my working experience as experience. I used to work in this place for a period of 2 years. They claimed that those experiences do not count. Anyway, i am not a partimer. I would consider myself as an intern in this place. I worked so hard, gave my best shot. As a chinese proverb says, "If there are no credits, u would at least be compensated for hardwork." yar rite, this place does not think so. They consider me as an entirely new applicant for the job. The worst is they are paying me a fresh grad pay. YAR!

My 2 year effort over here had gone down to drain. I reiterate not 2 MONTHS but 2 YEARS! I was utterly disgusted by the management. I understand that jobs are hard to find. I should feel contented for an offered job. By accepting it means an insult to myself. I am in no way going to lower my pay expectation in this company. IF they choose to pay me a fresh grad pay and no room for negotiation, i will leave IMMEDIATELY!

I always believe that the other side has a greener pasture. Giving up here does not mean the end of the world. If this is a job that i dun have any experience at all eg banking job, i WILL accept a fresh grad pay. Or if the job offer comes from my competitor, i will also accept. I have made my words clear. Now i shall see what the management got to say.

Saturday Fever

Just came home after a boogie and late coffee session with ken. We headed to our favourite haunt after dinner. Europa had an event by some match making service. ha... saw many "seniors" ard the hse. The music started early and it was ken's favourite retro. The floor became very crowded. We got on the stage and danced all the way. Very good form of exercise. I realised my confidence got boosted everytime i moved on stage. It really takes lot of courage to dance in front of the entire crowd. But pple dun care, everyone is indulging in their session.

After that, went to Paragon's new coffee bean branch. Quite a cosy and nice place. Had this brownie which was yum yum. I hesitated a bit to eat cos i am concerned on the "heatiness" and the end results. What do i mean? Pimples. ha.... Ate a little eventually. Had a great discussion with ken on his work and my dilemma. Shall not spell out what it is but the conversation did make me rethink on my dilemma. I am going to sleep now. What a nite!

Lazy Parents Naughty Children

Was on my way home after work today when i get to see this little boy ard the age of 3-4 yrs old with his parents. He was an ill bred who pull the hair of a teenager sitting in front of him. Alright, the kid misbehave. Young boys tend to be mischievious and playful at times. The parents seated next to him pretended as if nothing had happened. My goodness... They ignore the entire saga leaving the poor teenager being "bullied". The guy was not an easy person, he turned ard and grabbed the little boy's hand.

He shouted and that also din capture the attention of the mum and dad. Eventually, he spoke up and told his parents, auntie, if your child is not a kid, i would have spank him. His mother din utter anything. She said, boy be good, u cannot be rude to uncle hah. That's all! The father, seated like a "Dua Pek Gong" stare blankly into the air. The couple looks ard mid to late 30s. Come on, u know how to have sex and give birth, u dunno how to teach a kid. RUBBISH!

The next thing i heard from the mum was, "boy, learn from ur father. He is good. " yar rite, good? good in bed perhaps, otherwise how would he have him? i really cannot stand parents who allow their child to misbehave and treat as if nothing happen. When something really happen, finger pointing began. This is terrible. I dun think i would want to be this kind of parent.

Free session with Personal Trainer

Had my first session with the personal trainer at FF. My goodness, it was only a less than 30 minutes discussion. I thought it was supposed to be 45mins. Well, he said they need to work out a package that will suit my needs. He asked me to fill up a questionnare, asked me a few qns and that's it! Free lar, so unable to give too many advice. U need to pay for advice right? Some marketing gimmicks. He also conducted a body test for me ie check my pressure, height, weight, fats. I found out that i am pretty healthy and fit. hee. Ok, at least there was a free health screening for me. We need to pay for these if we go to poly clinic or private GPs.

The trainer informed me that BMI is not a good indicator of fitness. I am like "hah?", then why would the govt keep on promoting the use of BMI? One of the lifts in my office tower even had this advertisement which taught us to measure our own BMI. Conflicting answer! My BMI is in the safe level (shall not disclosed), but slightly above the "under" body mass category. Besides this, they measured the amount of fat in my body. The instructor said some might look skinny but the fat under their skin might be of a great amount. They are fats, not muscles. On the other hand, some may look fat, but they are all muscles. After the test, i am also in the safe level. He advised me to gym more to keep my shape cos as we grow older, more fats will develop. I sort of agree. After all, i spent quite a substantial sum to come here, i will definitely make good use of the facilities. ha... In any case, i will not over strain myself lar... I want a healthy body not a painful body...

US Presidential Elections 04

Will Bush retain his helm in the White house or taken over by Senator Kerry? This has been a BIG qn for most Americans. For the rest of the world, we are concerned in US military actions and her economic performance. The war in Iraq is long and seems neverending. Everyday, i hear news abt abduction of hostages, air strikes in Fallujah or even bombing in the green zone. When will this war end? As the largest economy in the world, any major movement in Wall St will affect the world economy. Whoever holds the key to White house will have significant impact not only in US but the world too.

My colleague asked who will i support. I gave a naughty answer Nader. After all, he is the independent candidate. I knew he will not win but neither do i want Bush or Kerry to win. Kerry is a well like figure by US citizens in the eastern states such as New York. Well Bush is more popular in the mid west states. To me, i only support Bush's one China policy. (I know Taiwanese will hate me for saying this) That has always been republican policy (Singapore stand too) but the democrats are somehow pro-Taiwan. Although they also support one China policy, they are not as verbal as the republican govt. Look at Powell visits to China. I guess China have been happy abt his remarks for saying Taiwan does not enjoy the benefit of a sovereign nation.

Enough of serious view, i think Bush will win eventually. The latest results showed that he should be able to retain his seat in the Oval Office for another 4 years. We shall give him another 4 yrs to prove himself. The stock mkt seems very pro-Bush. STI went up above the 2000 mark today. I think investors prefer a Bush administration since stability will be there should Bush remains in office. Declare the winner quickly and move on!

Subaru Challenge

Will u be able to stand under the hot sun, heavy downpour, 24 hours, hand on the car? I guess i dun have the patient and endurance to participate in such an event. But seriously, i am neither mad to do so. oops. Pls pardon me for saying that. If u want a car, get it through the conventional way. Here i mean earn your car through ur savings. If not, dun get it. I dun see myself getting a car cos i dun want to be burdened down by debts. I am very pleased with our transport system. It is easily accessible. It is more expensive to own a car then to take a cab. I have done some cost benefit analysis. The only benefit of getting a car is CONVENIENCE. aiyoh, for that, we have to pay a premium.

Then Singaporeans start to complain abt taxes, fuel prices (Oil per barrel have shot pass US$50 mark). Then ur ERPcharges, maintenance cost, COE, seasonal parking etc. To buy a car is equivalent to owning a property. I would rather opt for a condominium or a 5 room HDB flat. After all the analysis, Singaporeans still love cars. They treat them as their wives, second home or friend. I got nothing to say. That is why i always said, pple with car are wealthy people. Pls do not deny the next time when i catch u having a car!
